On 17th January 2018 the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications, Deemed Applications, Requests and Site Visits) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2017 (SI 2017/1314) will come into force in England. These Regulations will have the effect of increasing planning fees by up to 20%.
This will inevitably place a greater burden on the cost of development, particularly for larger scale developments. As an example, the cost of building a single house in England currently attracts a fee of £385. This is set to increase to £462. For an agricultural building under 465 sq m, this will rise from £80 to £96.
