With the ‘Delinking’ of Basic Payment (BPS) from the use of land, the 15th May only remains as a deadline for Countryside Stewardship (CS) revenue claims in 2024.

The money previously spent on BPS is now available for CS Capital grants for water quality items, air quality items and also boundaries. These have a rolling application window as does the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. This scheme is more flexible than Countryside Stewardship with a 3 year term, many options being rotational and allowing annual reviews to both amend the options and add land to an agreement.
