Slurry Infrastructure Grant: Guidance Now Available

DEFRA has announced that the new Slurry Infrastructure Grant will open for applications on 6th December 2022.

To help people prepare, they have made the full grant guidance available on gov.uk Slurry Infrastructure grant – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The grant is to help livestock farms in England to improve or expand slurry storage capacity to six months based on existing livestock numbers and will also fund the fitting of impermeable covers on grant funded stores.

The guidance sets out the new grant offer in full and explains how to apply. There is also guidance on how to plan the storage and information about the prioritisation of grants in the first round if it is over- subscribed.

The Slurry Infrastructure Grant has two stages to the application process.

First is the online eligibility check which opens on 6th December 2022 and closes on 31st January 2023. This first stage will confirm whether you can apply for a Slurry Infrastructure Grant and will estimate how much you could get based on your storage needs to reach six months storage.

Once the online checker closes, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) will identify applications which have a higher environmental benefit based on location and proximity to target areas.

The grant is based on standard costs which are said to be based on 50% of current market costs.

If you are interested in the scheme and wish to discuss matters, then please do not hesitate to contact Catherine Johnston at our Knaresborough office on 01423 860322.
