AFTER 32 years at the helm, John Haigh, Executive Chair of independent and highly renowned Yorkshire estate agents, Lister Haigh continues to lead his company forwards with the future looking brighter than ever as we move on and through the 2020s.
Despite the past two turbulent years with the worldwide covid pandemic and the ever-changing ups and downs of the property market, the company, which has three offices in Knaresborough, Harrogate and Boroughbridge, has overseen many and varied hurdles to emerge in a stronger position than ever and this is in no small part down to the leadership, skills and ongoing guidance from John, a fully qualified chartered surveyor and RICS registered valuer.
The company has four key sectors – Agricultural, Residential, Commercial and Development – and John’s expertise in all these areas means the company is looking forward to an extremely busy 2022.
Young graduates under the expert mentorship of John have helped build a bright future for Lister Haigh too and with such a varied range of services on offer, they and the workload of their fellow professionals mean there is literally never a dull moment.
“We offer advice and assistance in a wide variety of areas, but our main focus of work is valuations and property appraisals, compulsory purchase and compensation claims, agricultural consultancy, and of course, our agricultural property sales, letting and management,” said John. “Our highly experienced team of professionals can also help with planning applications, development agreements and land sales.”
“I’ve been very fortunate over my three decades leading the company to have a fantastic team of hard working, loyal and conscientious individuals to work with,” he added. “I particularly enjoy working with our fantastic team of young graduates who are the future of rural estate agency and surveying. Mentoring and helping them as they move forwards with their respective careers has been an absolute pleasure for me.”
It is widely recognised that Lister Haigh have enjoyed enormous success in the residential sales market of late with demand for properties far exceeding supply and some hugely desirable rurally located residential houses and estates have attracted worldwide interest from would-be buyers.
In summing up why Lister Haigh has proved such a successful independent company when the nationals can prove sometimes to be tough competition, John confirmed: “We’re a small company numbering around 20 employees but I believe our strengths lie in our Yorkshire roots, our local specialist knowledge, our traditional and caring approach that leads to such high standards and a very real and genuine desire to consistently do the best for our colleagues, our friends and most importantly, our clients. Long may it continue.”
